Cardiac tumors (เนื้องอกหัวใจ) are abnormal growths of heart tissue cells that form masses within the heart. This rare condition can occur in people of all ages and genders. Approximately 95% of cardiac tumors are benign (non-cancerous), such as:
Myxoma (เนื้องอกมิกโซมา) – the most common type.
Lipoma (เนื้องอกไขมัน) – fatty tumors.
Rhabdomyoma (เนื้องอกกล้ามเนื้อลาย) – muscle tissue tumors.
The remaining 5% are malignant (มะเร็งหัวใจ or cardiac cancer).
Fatigue, especially during exertion or when lying flat.
Chest tightness or pain.
Irregular heartbeat (palpitations, rapid heart rate).
Chronic cough.
Dizziness, fainting, or blurred vision.
Swollen legs/feet and bluish fingertips.
Unexplained weight loss and general weakness.
Primary treatment: Surgical removal of the tumor.
Additional therapies: Chemotherapy or radiation may be used if surgery is not possible or if tumors recur, depending on the tumor’s responsiveness.
Surgery: Complete removal of the cancerous mass.
Post-surgery: Chemotherapy tailored to the cancer cell type.
Radiation therapy: Primarily used to relieve symptoms from cancer spread (e.g., to the brain).
Benign tumors: Prognosis is excellent with complete surgical removal.
Malignant tumors: Prognosis is less favorable and depends on cancer type, disease stage, and response to chemotherapy.
